The Phoenix Republic is an alliance of many towns and many guilds as well as other private citizens, businesses and civil groups which have banded together to form a self-governing nation within the realm of New Britannia. Each town within the Republic is independently governed, but the Republic exists as a layer over the towns that each town contributes to in order to ensure the mutual support for all towns in the realm of the Republic. The Republic's ministries and offices help advise and direct important topics such as culture, events, justice and commerce within the towns.
But more importantly, the Phoenix Republic is a family. We exist as a close knit group tied together both in game and out of game that does whatever we can to support each other in whatever they need. We are neighbors, we are best friends ... and we are family. Applying is easy: We simply seek good people whom get along well with the other members and do not seek to cause trouble either to our group or anyone else.
The Rule: There is ONLY one rule in the Republic and it is very simple - Don't be a dick! We do not seek drama, we do not seek confrontation and we do not seek to cause drama or confrontation with others.
Focus and objectives: Overall, we wish to build an interactive community and provide great locations for player-run events and help build a unique culture within the world of Shroud of the Avatar. Our "end goal" is simply to exist and have fun with others while simultaneously doing what we can to support the other SotA communities and avatars where possible. To that end, we do a lot of various events and provide many services, such as the Novian Academy, in order to improve the quality of life of SotA players.
Taxes and other fees for citizens: We do not charge any form of up-front fees or solicit taxes for residential lots in our capitol city of Port Phoenix. We do, however, accept all manner of donations. Some other forms of commercial taxation are being considered, but it will likely be on a very minor or voluntary basis. That said, each of the other towns are free to independently charge if they wish, but we try to encourage other means of sustainability aside from taking directly from our citizens.
Port Phoenix is a city of rich history and splendor. The port has been run by the Phoenixfyre family for many generations. The city's inhabitants are sturdy and stubborn, borrowing from years of surviving through disasters both natural and unnatural. Port Phoenix's bayou location has been made habitable only through a union of ingenuity, magic and machine. The swampland surrounding the port holds many secrets and clues of those who came before, in the initial settlement of Sparrow Bay. Since then, the city has been rebuilt many times each one coming back stronger than the last.
Phoenix Fields: The Republic's Agricultural Heartland
Phoenix Fields is the bread basket of the Republic. This serene private community houses some of the most fertile land in the reach of the Phoenix Republic. This town is located just outside Port Phoenix's bayou and the lush circle of land on the outskirts of the swamp are used to grow an almost neverending supply of fruits, vegetables and reagents that support the bustling trade supported by the Republic. Phoenix Fields also houses many closed-gate communities where its peaceful and quiet citizens can get away from the hustle and bustle of the Republic's more populated cities. It is here - Phoenix Fields is a land where one can truly relax and live in peace!
The Drowned Mountains: Island Paradise
On an archipelago off of the coast of Port Phoenix, exists a small community of traders known as the Elder Moot. Those that they love and trust live here on this island paradise known as The Drowned Mountains, keeping the island maintained and secure. Because of its relative location and it's quirky inhabitants, The Drowned Mountains has become a tourism hot spot in the Phoenix Republic, and is often the location of many festivals and celebrations. The people of The Drowned Mountains know two things: How to relax, and how to work hard - and that's just how they like it.
Jade Valley: Serene Mountain Valley
Jade Valley is a serene valley location sitting in between two mountain cliffs creating a pathway into the capitol city of Port Phoenix and its suburbs of Phoenix Fields. The people of Jade Valley are quiet, hard working and value honor and peace among all else. Do not confuse their desire for peace with their inability to defend themselves, however. Jade Valley's culture of studying the martial arts of New Britannia dates back hundreds of years - and the people of this village are prepared to defend themselves if needed. Travellers to the valley, however, will have many unique cultural heritage sites to visit within the valley and on the way to the nation's capitol.
Sparrowfall: Fishing Village & Customs Checkpoint
Just on the outter edges of the Phoenix Republic's borders exists a small fishing village with a surprisingly high amount of traffic for such a small town. It is here, the village of Sparrowfall, that the headquarters for the Phoenix Republic customs office is located. All sea traffic entering and leaving the Republic via Port Phoenix must pass through Sparrowfall for approval. It is because of this important part Sparrowfall plays in the Republic's economy as well as it's strategic location that Sparrowfall's citizens have developed a unique and eclectic way of life. Good humor and a good meal will get someone a lot further in this coastal village than coin and steel, but don't try to haggle with the shopowners here or you might get what's coming to you!
